10/18/26 - (Turns Track 2/2)

  Weather: Cool crisp morning, in the upper 40s but warm in sun. Windy from N, air was dry. Pulled out the fleece-lined pants for the first time this season. Goal : Turns using the Turns Practice from resources page with decreasing augmentation in turns. I laid two of these but kept legs 40-50yds for the most part. Track 2: Age was 1hr 50min. 330 steps/300yards; Only start and end article. Used her favorite treat for articles. Food drops q25 yds. My walk out was a little close to the start flag, so I shortened Leg 1 and moved the start flag further down the leg right before we ran the track. While I was laying this track, there were people all over the first few legs (parents / kids playing) so a good opportunity to run a quiet track that had high traffic while aging. 09-05-2026 - RMS

Dusted off the gear today during a break in the weather.  
  • 300yds mixed veg and non-veg
  • Age - None - Ran immediately due to thunder/rain rolling in
  • Weather - 78*, cloudy and very humid

Picked all fabric intermediate articles that she loves and heavily augmented track with food. 

Apparently she was losing her mind and playing the nose flute while I laid the track but when I got her out of the kennel, she was calm and focused 👌.

What went well:
  • Great start
  • 1st article surprised her and she was great with it - jumped back and downed quickly
  • Good restarts after articles
Less good:
  • She wasn't keen to down on asphalt - just paused at articles until a coached down. Will do parking lot article track soon
  • Was at times looking for cheese more than tracking between - was too generous with food for reinforcement at this first track back and will.space it better next time
  • Asphalt turn was not crisp. Will keep working these
