After her strong interest to go into vs away from woods last class day, I asked Mary Ann to lay a track that parallels woods and does bounce-offs from woods. Mary Ann nailed the assignment (and shout out to Kelley who co-laid and was MVP for double lineups!). We ran the track at 1hr 15min old. Notes - what went well: Great start and 1st turn on the rails! Her article indications were really nice today. I think our slowed down routine at articles is slowing her down and keeping energy / excitement from running wild. She feels more measured at restarts now. Turns - She was really clear to read on all with the exception of the last turn. In reviewing video, she gave a head turn at the final turn before going forward a little and then looking at woods. Line work was good today - getting back up the line quickly + a behind the back line work on the final turn - felt like I supported her well when she committed. She drank well before start and at articles Notes - To work on:...

03/09/2025 - 450yd VST track
450 yds at business park, run at 20-25 min, 50* and sunny. Used HITT on non-veg.
Geese came to greet me at car and then walked across track back to lake lawn ( this meant lots of fun scents, visual distractions, goose poop everywhere)
Laid 2nd leg, and 2nd to last leg by building (this was new for her)
Article 1 was metal, article 2 was novel fabric, article 3 was leather, article 4 was plastic. Others were fabric
Laid with higher food drop reinforcement in NV last 100 yds.
How it went:
Start/1st turn was distracted somewhat by Geese. Nice tracking on leg 2
She was sensitive to the exit doors and scent at building (2:00) - will try this again to see if it's consistent
She didn't care about the metal article (does well with it at house) - 2:34
She ate goose droppings a lot on first 2 legs! 😔
Great transition into NV for second part of Leg 2.
Beautiful indication of teal headband (fully novel) -5:02
Then she got stuck big time when we restarted. (5:35-9:30). Though she initially looked left down the next leg, she really pulled to go backwards. We worked it for about 5 min and I tossed food onto track to entice her, gave water. This felt a lot like turn 3 from day before in the field... pattern? I think the geese had walked through there shortly before we ran the track.
Once we made turn onto leg 3, nice tracking and leather article indication. (10:15)
Next turn was along a raised mulch median where concrete curb met asphalt. This was hard for her... (11:00-12:00) Will try this again. Eventually made turn to lake and then Holy moly... the Geese!
She looked up and saw Geese (12:25) and wanted to bolt when they scurried. She spooked them off and I used food scatters a few times (she had great response to “SCATTER!”). The track went up into the lawn about 5yds and then took a right to the sidewalk. After investigating the storm drain to the left of the track, she went back to work. She ended up enthusiastically cutting that corner (13:15) but I was ok with that because she was clearly priorizing the track over the Geese at that point!
Great plastic article indication just after the Geese debacle! (13:40)
The rest of the track went pretty well. The leg after the plastic article I had stepped on the grass edge and she stayed true to the track. She didn't want to down at the next article bc she made a pit stop closeby but she did a 180 after a moment and downed.
In the curved sidewalk/ driveway, she got pulled up to the building a few times but corrected back independently.
Slight overshoot on final turn but quick LOS and recovery.
She collapsed at the end article!
3 things that went well:
Working past Geese/ prioritizing the track!!
Track endurance! She did a big X track the day before and this was by far the longest V track she's done by about 150 yds
Some nice transitions to NV
3 Things to work on:
Buildings (this was her first time)
Restarts after article (common w X issue)
Metal articles. I think she's more motivated after a bit more of the length so will put metal later on to see if she still misses it.
Wowzer!! Sooo many nice parts. Nice job using your scatter food and food drops on final leg were spot on. Excellent line work too!!
