11/29/25 - Woods bounce-offs and parallels

After her strong interest to go into vs away from woods last class day, I asked Mary Ann to lay a track that parallels woods and does bounce-offs from woods. Mary Ann nailed the assignment (and shout out to Kelley who co-laid and was MVP for double lineups!). We ran the track at 1hr 15min old. Notes - what went well: Great start and 1st turn on the rails! Her article indications were really nice today.  I think our slowed down routine at articles is slowing her down and keeping energy / excitement from running wild. She feels more measured at restarts now. Turns - She was really clear to read on all with the exception of the last turn. In reviewing video, she gave a head turn at the final turn before going forward a little and then looking at woods.  Line work was good today - getting back up the line quickly + a behind the back line work on the final turn - felt like I supported her well when she committed.  She drank well before start and at articles Notes - To work on:...

Certified!

Any day in the field is a good day but today was especially so.

We did passed a certification track at Judi's field. Doghead shape and ~45min aged. It was chilly (~30*) and field grass was frosted.

She started very excited but then sniffed the second flag and calmed like,  "time to settle in and focus". Evie's tracking was very tight and easy to read and we made our way confidently to final leg.  The track rolled downhill a bit towards the wood line and I knew it definitely couldn't go forward or straight but also wasn't sure if it would make a left turn or have the article.

She kept wanting to check right and follow wood line.  At one point, I thought I saw an article but it was just trash so I collected and let her continue working.  She seemed a bit stuck working and I realized my shoe was untied so I called her back, tied my shoe, and let that reset the search.  After this she and I backed up,  then she took a left (as I got tangled on my line - oof) and took off to the end article.  She paused at it but didn't lay down.  Other than that, I was really happy with the problem solving at the end.  I kept telling myself to *be patient* and methodical. The front 90% of the track was textbook Evie tracking and my motto was to Follow Willingly.

Quite happy with her and excited to continue into next hurdle of entering trials!

Will link video when shared.
